Overview of Therapy
Most people have times in their lives when they need a little help emotionally. times that may be related to work relationship issues, school or home, relationships with family members, partners, spouses, co-workers, or friends. Also, there are those times when more emotional support is needed related to loss of a loved one, illnesses, addictions, job loss, disabilities, retirement, end of life issues, adjustment to parenting, new child, school, work, or the direction of one's life.
There are also those problems that are related to chemical imbalances that affect the way our brain functions. These imbalances may contribute to emotional problems and/or mental illness, which simliar to other physical illiness may need medication therapy.
People can choose to improve the way they feel by investing effort into balancing the difficult areas in life as best as they can. In seeking out counseling a client can begin to identify the problem areas and begin to address them.
Therapy creates a place where individuals or couples come together with a therapist to work toward finding solutions to specific problems. Clients may learn new coping skills, how to become better organised, to seek an answer about a life dilemma, to function more effectively or to clarify what is causing them concern.
You may find that counseling is right for you, if you are feeling anxious, depressed, or unfulfilled in any sense and nothing you have been doing seems to help. You've tried to cope with your problems on your own but you find it hard to deal with. Therapy can provide you with a set of new strategies and can help you develop the necessary healthy coping skills which you can apply to make your problems and life manageable.

The Process
The first visit or two is a getting aquainted time which consist of an intake process. During this time we will ask questions and determine with client input the best course of treatment. The client is asked to take a part in determining the goals and objectives of treatment. The client is also asked to commit to working consistently on accomplishing these goals or objectives. Necessary paperwork which may include releases of information, insurance paperwork, a history about yourself and provisions of service, is completed prior to or during the intake process.
Many major insurances and self-pay are accepted for payment. Insurance reimbursement may require minimal disclosure as does your physical safety and the physical safety of others.
